The Stay-at-Home, Working Mom?
The following post, written by Charlotte McGhee (a freelancer and fellow Executive in Sweatpants), is…
I had the distinct privilege of appearing on the Dave Ramsey show last week with my family. Over the past six years, we’ve worked very hard to become debt free. The day finally arrived, and Dave’s team invited us to appear on the show. Telling our story to over 6 million listeners was a bit nerve-racking, but it went better than I could have imagined. (Although in watching this video, I realize how much of a nerd I apparently am.)
Here’s the video link, as provided by the folks at the Dave Ramsey show:
My favorite part of the interview was when Dave said this:
“Executive in Sweatpants – that’s a great title!” ~Dave Ramsey
As mentioned in the video, Dave Ramsey inspired the Executive in Sweatpants brand in many ways. I was working from home one day (as usual), and a guy called into Dave’s show who had recently lost his job. As I listened to the caller’s story, I felt motivated to write Executive in Sweatpants. My mission with Executive in Sweatpants is to help people find meaningful work from home by means of online marketplaces, such as oDesk.com.
Several years after being inspired by that caller’s message, it’s pretty fulfilling to pose for this picture with Dave holding a copy of my book. (I’m holding his EntreLeadership book, which is a great read.)
The Dave Ramsey Show is the nation’s most-listened-to financial advice radio program. With over 6 million listeners and 500 radio stations from coast to coast, Dave is among the most trusted names in personal finance wisdom. Learn more about Dave’s ministry and award-winning products by visiting his website.
I’d also like to extend a warm welcome to all the new readers who found this blog as result of listening to the show. I’ve received dozens of nice emails from you.
